Khaled Yoga
Khaled has been immersed in the world of yoga since 1998, embarking on his journey at Iyengar Yoga Maida Vale (IYMV) in London. He is certified by the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK) as a Level 2 Iyengar Yoga Teacher and Mentor and received his Junior Intermediate Level 2 in 2019.
Khaled discovered Iyengar yoga after a lower back injury and through Iyengar yoga he was able to recover his mobility through alignment, precision and action in the poses. Using the props allowed him to hold the poses with better shape and less strain.
Inspired by the teaching and the discipline of Iyengar Yoga, holding the poses to understand them very well and to be well connected with the pose. This then inspired him to take it further and train to become a teacher.
Khaled has attained Level 2 and now also serves as a Mentor with IYA UK. He has been fortunate to study with the Iyengars at the renowned RIMYI in Pune, India, and with his experience working in Cardiology he was asked to help in their medical classes with the cardiac patients. Khaled continues to enhance his expertise, having successfully completed module 2 of the Therapy course under Stephanie Quirk's guidance, gaining valuable insights into remedial yoga.
Khaled's teaching experience extends to beginner and general classes at IYLMV, where he imparts his knowledge. He also teaches at Triyoga Ealing, runs workshops in and around London and hosts annual retreats in Europe. In addition, Khaled offers classes locally and private tuition, both online and in person. He is also a mentor for those who wish to train to become Iyengar yoga teachers.
Beyond the yoga mat, Khaled serves as a Cardiac Physiologist in the NHS and holds qualifications in Immediate Life Support. His approach to teaching has been influenced by his hospital background of looking after patients and putting them at ease. Khaled's aim is to make his students feel they are taken care of and enjoy a well-managed class taught with compassion to allow the students to build up their postures gradually and with confidence and be able to understand the postures well. He also teaches a class for his colleagues at the NHS through the Wellbeing Department.
‘I aim to teach in a way that encourages the class structure to move smoothly without interruption.’ - Khaled

He continues his practise online with Abhijata Iyengar direct from Pune and Penny Chaplin at the Iyengar Yoga Institute, Maida Vale.
‘Being able to practising online with the Iyengar family in the early hours of the morning in the peace and quiet gives me space to really go inwards and to understand the postures to be able to share this with my students.‘ - Khaled
